Greetings Everyone! We are on a roll at Cognitively Art Ed – another Collage & Color lesson is coming your way! Today I am sharing a great lesson on Photomontage and include many great ways to make it successful.
Photomontage is a composition that contains photos arranged in various ways to create a single image. These images are intended to transcend the effect of a simple collection of photos. Photomontages can be 2D and 3D, shadow boxes, analog or digital. One thing for sure, a photomontage has the capacity to be much more than what you have seen to date!
This lesson contains four examples of photomontages by me – the lesson sample, a 2D board book, a diorama, and a sculpture with notes of inspiration for the next generation. Also included is a two-page informational document about teaching collage to students, a mini poster on Cutting craftsmanship and another on Gluing craftsmanship. The lesson plan is complete with modifications and extensions so you can scaffold this to suit your individual student artists. I also include a beautiful Thank You mini poster that will help you with your arts advocacy – an ongoing part of each art educator’s “to do” list. Finally, I grabbed a couple of images to take you from the old fashioned photo scrap book to a photo tribute to someone who has passed on.
You will also find a lesson on Collage & Camouflage at Cognitively Art Ed and another one about Collage and Advertising. I think you will really enjoy all of these!
